Legalization of Airsoft in the Philippines

Postby desertwolf on Tue Aug 14, 2007 10:13 am

Airsoft became LEGAL in the Philippines effective July 24, 2006 when Gen. Calderon signed /approved the petition filed by a group of airsoft enthusiasts led by a lawyer (known for his call sign as Fallujah) .

There are still some unresolved / unfavorable issues contained in the said IRR which is deemed detrimental for the healthy growth of the airsoft hobby and these are still being lobbied upon by the group of Fallujah of the United Airsoft Alliance.

Anyway, these are the salient features of the said IRR :

a. registration fee of P200 per gun, one time fee.
b. serial numbering ( your gun cannot be registered without a serial number )
c. penetration test. ( Must not exceed 550 FPS )
b. Licensing of sellers.

Furthermore, in a nutshell, the IRR effectively reclassified our airguns from real firearms to airguns , whether replica or not. So it is important to know that we cannot be charged with anything if caught with your airgun, except of course if you were caught committing a crime with your toy gun. But mere possession of the AEG is NOT a crime anymore. But they may still confiscate your gun. So it is important to remember NEVER BRANDISH YOUR AEG IN PUBLIC.

Another thing nga pala. Meron din palang provision doon sa IRR (referred to as the old RR) na requiring the tip of the gun’s barrel ( doon sa fire suppressor) to be painted bright orange. This is to differentiate daw the toy guns from the real ones. Maraming nag object dito. Ako din, object! He, he imagine your barrel in orange… nakakasira ng realism, di ba?

Anyway, don’t paint your guns in orange yet. Wait for the new revised IRR. For signature na daw according to the UAA information. Sa new FINAL draft ng IRR, painting of orange is no longer required. Only a barrel cover in orange is required when transporting your gun.

So watch for updates if and when the FINAL IRR is signed /approved by the PNP Chief.

Sir , FINAL Copy na ba yan ng IRR? Kasi bka yun old copy pa yan meron kasing amended IRR na pending sa Crame, signature na lang ng PNP Chief ang kulang... to the best of my knowledge, hinde pa lumalabas yun Final draft... advice ni Sir Fallujah of UAA ay stand down daw muna tayo ... meaning let's wait for the final draft kasi kung iregister natin ngayon ang mga bengbeng eh mapipilitan tayo na to paint the tip of the barrel bright orange...

But just in case when the time comes, patulong kme sa iyo re: registration... he he he :)
