Your squad should practice moving in single file, skirmish line, and wedge formations. Literally walk around and practice until everyone gets the hang of it. Fire zones are important. Stress that each person has a role and responsibility.
1. Single File - The single file formation is used in situations where speed is important. A path is selected by the point man and all remaining teammates follow the same path. Teams can cover distance the fastest with this formation but not nearly as much area as others. It is also useful when vegetation is thick and only one route seems feasible for movement.

2. Skirmish Line -The skirmish line works well when you are trying to cover the most area as possible. 22 Teammates line up shoulder to shoulder, about 15 feet apart, and move forward as a single line. This is useful when searching for objectives or finding hidden enemies. Enemy attacks must be reacted to quickly because they will be able to break through a line that is spread too thin because the skirmish line is only one soldier thick.

3. Wedge Formation - The wedge formation is sometimes used as a standard movement for open terrain. The team leader is usually at the front of the wedge and directs the movement of his team.

4. Staggered Column - One of the most common formations used in airsoft, the staggered column is a mixture of speed and area coverage. It is by far the best choice for team movement along a trail because of the ease of movement off the trail in case of enemy contact. It also spaces a team out enough to not be decimated by automatic fire and keeps them close enough to remain cohesive.

5. V Formation - This formation is not used often, but can be used to cover an area and move a large number of fields of fire onto an enemy quickly. Its strength is that you can easily flank an identified enemy with one side of the V.
